About

Stirling Grady Photography is a tribute to the individual, imagination, and the art of storytelling through pictures.
I’m Paul Boomhower, and I’m the one behind the camera. My approach to photography is simple: it’s about truth. A photograph isn't just a snapshot; it's a reflection of the moment, shaped by the connection between the photographer and the subject. Together, we create that truth.
Having grown up on a steady diet of books and films throughout my childhood, I tend to view life through a cinematic lens. Each photograph I take is a scene in a much bigger narrative—your story. Let’s work together to create something truly special, something that feels as real as it is artistic. I’m excited to help tell your story through my camera, so let’s make something that feels like magic.
My drivers license says I live in Montana, but it's more likely you'll find me somewhere else. From April to October, I'm in Alaska, sharing my love for photography with visitors and documenting the breathtaking landscapes, wildlife, and stunning portraits that this incredible state has to offer. When I'm not working with clients, I'm out in the wild, capturing moments that showcase the natural beauty of Alaska's wildlife and majestic scenery.
During the colder months, I head south to Arizona, where I spend January through March. While in the desert, I utilize the sun-drenched landscapes and vibrant sunsets as backdrops for portrait shoots.
During the rest of the year, I travel through the U.S., always looking for new adventures and wonderful people to photograph. I just might be in your town at some point, so let’s connect and create something special together.

Smile for the camera!
Portrait photography is a genre of photography that focuses on capturing the personality, character, and mood of a person or group of people. It typically involves framing the subject's face and upper body, emphasizing their expression, body language, and sometimes their surroundings, to convey a particular emotion or story. The goal is to create an image that reflects the essence of the subject, often with attention to lighting, composition, and background, while making the subject the central focus.
Portrait photography comes in various styles, each serving a unique purpose:
Traditional Portraits – Classic, posed portraits where the subject is often looking at the camera with controlled lighting and composition.
Senior Portraits – Commemorates a student's final year of high school or college. These typically showcase their personality, achievements, and future aspirations.
Lifestyle Portraits – Captures people naturally in everyday settings, focusing on storytelling and authenticity rather than strict posing.
Beauty Portraits – Emphasizes flawless skin, makeup, and styling, often used in fashion and commercial photography.
Environmental Portraits – Showcases the subject within a meaningful setting, such as their workplace or home, adding context to the image.
Candid Portraits – Unposed and spontaneous shots that capture raw emotions and genuine moments.
Glamour Portraits – Highlights the subject’s beauty with stylish outfits, dramatic lighting, and artistic poses, often associated with fashion.
Boudoir Portraits – Intimate and sensual portraits, typically taken in a private setting, focusing on confidence and empowerment.
Couple, Family, Group Portraits – Captures relationships and connections between multiple subjects, often emphasizing interaction and emotions.

You might already have ideas for the kind of portraits you'd like to capture. That's great. And if you don't, that's okay too. We'll work together to create a work of art that reflects your personality, passion, and story. With a keen eye for detail and a creative approach, I'll bring out your best, making you feel confident and at ease in front of the camera. Let's turn imagination into stunning imagery; because you deserve portraits that feel as remarkable as you are.
Book your session today and let's create something unforgettable.
